A Reflective Trend

They say that if you hold on to something long enough it will come back in style. So while I’m in this reflective mood I thought I’d mention a trend I really like and am glad is being revisited. It’s metallics. I have fond memories of visiting my friend’s groovy apartment on West 86th St. in New York. Her entrance hall had a similar metallic wallcovering as in the bedroom photo, above. It was groovy then, and it’s way cool today. I love it paired with fresh, bright colors.

Lots of wallpaper lines are coming out with metallic prints. Check out Stark Wallcovering for an interesting version. Or, if you’re interested in paint, visit Benjamin Moore store for DIY tips on metallic glazes. For a more luxurious and unique look, hand apply sheets of real gold or silver leaf to a wall or ceiling. Be sure to lacquer it to keep it from tarnishing. Art supply stores carry this.

Love the metallic wall! I’m thinking of doing a groovy bathroom. Trying to put that “What if I want to sell” idea out of my mind.
