Catherine Hammerton Wallcoverings: A Lesson in Patience

‘Got it licked’ digitally printed wallpaper, featuring vintage stamp collections.

Here’s a fantastic designer who amazes me because she does things that would drive the average person insane. Or maybe just me because I’m so impatient. Anyway, Catherine Hammerton has a line of wall coverings that are truly unique and involve lots of hand-applied detail. They’re really creative. Go see them here.

“Blossom” Hand dyed and stitched paper vessels are dotted with lacy perforations,
creating amazing shadow details.

Her wallpaper service, as she called it, is bespoke. That means it’s all custom. She silkscreens and hand finishes everything. No two pieces are ever exactly the same. However, Ms. Hammerton (I feel like I should call her that instead of Cate, or something, because her work is so beautiful and intricate) is coming out with a “ready too wear” line designed to complement the current bespoke service. As her site says, “The newest part of the collection will be available by the roll and will mean beautiful contemporary wallpapers at an affordable price.”

“Collection” An explosion of color, texture and image finished by hand with vintage fabrics and trims.

I say, “Bravo!” What do you say?
