Chair of the Day
Everyone loves this chair which began its life in the US Navy. Because it’s made of aluminium, it’s lightweight and thus perfect for a submarine, where these things matter. Emeco re-imagined it and now you see it everywhere. I especially like seeing it in places that could never really afford them, like in the interrogation rooms on Law and Order. They’re also on House, but I like to imagine that Dr. House is such a curmudgeon that they gave him a huge office design budget just to shut him up. I love House. I wish I had some easily cured but difficult-to-diagnose problem so that he would have to examine me very, very carefully. All over. Oh! I forgot about the chair. Sorry. It’s available from Hive Modern and retails for $385.

Thanks for the notice. The navy chair we sell now is exactly the same one we made in 1944. Thousands are still in police stations and prisons. In 1999, Philippe Starck re-imagined the Navy chair for the Hudson Hotel, and Emeco was re-launched. Best regards,
