Chair of the Day

What is going on here? Hmmm, where would I use this? I think it’s perfect for those Geico cavemen guys, but I’m kind of scratching my head about this. This furry creation called (appropriately) Log Chair, was designed for Aterlano by my fave, Patricia Urquiola. It’s certainly a departure from her sleek, Italian pieces. Maybe she was feeling cold and needed to put on a sweater. Now I really wish I had a job designing a ski lodge in Verbier.

Yes, you are right - this one is deffinitely a different style, but most of her designs are so out of the main stream. She is my favourate designer, too, and you can find a lot of information and links about her on my blog.

I like it, but I think it’s the kind of thing I’d tire of in a short (too short) time. Yes, her stuff is “out of the mainstream”, but I think some of her other work has much longer staying power.

Yes, not too much staying power. Who knows what her brief was about the project. But all designers like to push their boundaries and I think this chair has its place - somewhere.

The front of my comment was too short. I like the chair, and I agree that it has its place. But anyway, I shouldn’t worry so much about longevity. Looks cool right now. That should be enough, huh?

I guess it depends on how much $$$$ my client has!
