Chair of the Day

Believe it or not I spent a couple of hours reading up on acoustics today for a “fix-it” project going on this week. I guess I’m a geek at heart because I became absorbed (get it!) and lost track of time. So, I’ve just got time for CotD today. And it is Tubomi! This chair is a prototype from a three-person, Japanese design group called Leif.designpark. According to the group, “Tubomi was born from an image of a bright future, like that of a flower bud growing in the forest of KuKunochi, about to blossom.” Not having been to the KuKunochi forest, I’ll have to take their word for it.
The table next to it is called Minamo. It’s also forest-inspired. The surface is sand-blasted to resemble a small spring in a forest. I think the two together look very tranquil. Just like a lilly on a pond. Well done.
