Did You Eat All Your Dinner?
Here’s an interesting new item from Design Public. It’s called the Brave Space Design Hollow Dining Set. Wow, that’s a mouthful (pun intended). It seems that there are spaces beneath the table with matching “thru-spaces” in the chairs. It’s made of bamboo, so I suppose it’s somewhat green. It comes in a variety of finishes and retails starting at $5,200.
When I read about this table I was instantly reminded of my childhood experience with food which did not meet with my approval. There was a little pocket in the underside of our expandable dinner table. It was the perfect spot to hide Brussel sprouts, wrapped in a napkin. I’d return later to discard the offensive vegetable. But it seems that sometimes I forgot. After a few days my sister would say, “Gee, what’s that smell?” Evil looks were exchanged, but no words, since it was her hiding place as well.
I can see from the photo of the aptly-named Brave Space table that the storage space is open only on the end. But if I purchased this set, but the chairs might require an occasional inspection. As they say, Caveat Emptor.
