I Came, I Saw, I Conquered
The voting ended last night for the IKEA trip on behalf of my niece and her bedroom redo. Votes were 13: yes, 2: no, and 6: you’re out of your mind. So, true to my word off I drove at 6:00 AM to IKEA, arriving about 20 minutes before opening. I had decided if there were a zillion people in line I would turn around and go home. It didn’t look too bad, so I joined the queue, which snaked around the side of the building. It was freezing cold, and I was thankful for extra layers of warm clothing. Would I be in the lucky first 1,000? It looked close. Finally, the doors opened. I made my way to the front door and…

Yes! My scratch card declared me the winner of an Ektorp sofa! I couldn’t believe it. It even fit in the car. The poor person in front of me, who had been waiting just as long, and was just as cold as I, scratched off her card and won a pair of fabulous candlesticks. The Gods were smiling on me. Now I think I’ve earned a nap.
