Life’s Better in the Bucket

I’m writing from our little beach cottage on Sunset Beach, NC. It’s called Chum Bucket. We weren’t sure if that was a good name for a rental property. Would people think of Roy Scheider tossing fish guts over the side of the Orca?
“We need a bigger boat!”

What you need to understand is that all the houses on this little island have corny names. Back when we were renters ourselves I used to toss my nose up at names like Bac’n in the Sun (picture of sunbathing pig on the sign), Sol Mate and Fantasea. If ever I owned a beach house it would have a sophisticated name.

But we decided on Chum Bucket because the house is the size of a bucket (a large one, but still) and all our chums are welcome. Get it? Ain’t that fun? Also, it was better than Bait’s Motel and Tide with Beach; our other two choices.

So what does this have to do with interior design? Not a dang thing. It’s just my roundabout way of saying that I’m busy soaking up the sun and reading Julie and Julia. It’s a great read, but now I’m pouting because, like Julie Powell I have a blog. But unlike Julie Powell, I don’t have a book. But fear not! I will lie on the sand daydreaming of Chairs of the Day.

Ok so you can tell that I just spent the week with my 12yo nephew. Chum Bucket makes me think of Plankton on Sponge Bob Square Pants.

LOL

I know one day that my references won’t come from the cartoon network.

A client told me that Chum Bucket had something to do with Sponge Bob but I forgot what it was. So is Chum Bucket like the Crusty Crab? It’s been a little while since I watched it. I started watching it because a 40 year-old girlfriend of mine told me it was her favorite show. Gary is my favorite.
