Sort of Off Topic, But Worth It
I had a fun girl party last week. Six of my best buddies came over for a Trish McEvoy makeover party. If you’re not familiar with “Trish”, it’s a line of cosmetics and skin care products owned by Trish McEvoy (duh, but I mean it’s not owned by a giant conglomerate). You’ll find her cosmetics at department stores and personally, I like the line.
Anyway, I thought it would be fun to have a make-over party. So I asked Brian Mainzinger (a make-up artist for Trish who I got talking to one day about blogs) if he was available. I fully expected him to charge for his time and do it as a private thing. But no. It seems that Trish McEvoy has the most amazing customer service in the world – at least when it comes to cosmetics. Which is why I’m off topic and writing about this.
A team of make-up artists, and a facialist came over, supplied catered food, wine, and goodie bags for all six of us. Oh, and we enjoyed 40-minute facials and makeovers. I’m still stunned. It was all free of charge.
This particular party was done through Saks Fifth Avenue, but it’s available to anyone. And I have to say that Trish McEvoy is a very savvy woman who understands that in today’s marketplace you have to give it away to get it back. I don’t know if all my friends bought something that night, but I imagine that we’ll all head to the Trish counter the next time we need something new. Why not? We got a free lesson in how to apply her line of make-up. Very smart.
Oh, and just to tie it in a little with design – the trends for this fall’s look is a clean, crisp look with a nod to the 1980′s. Personally, I loved the false eyelashes. Va-va-voom. But I really need to send a giant thank-you to Brian, Kelly, Michelle, Allison and Roxanne for all their hard work, talent and enthusiasm. You made it a really fun night.
