Thoughts on the Mirror Trend

Metallics are one of fashion’s trends this Fall. And where fashion leads, home decor always seems to follow. A few years ago I would have said, “Barf,” at the idea of anything mirrored taking up space in my house or a client’s. But times change. I just think that a little goes a long way.
Here’s nice Art Deco chest from Wisteria. This is just the right size to create some impact without overwhelming. It retails for $849.
I like this mirrored coffee table. It’s a nice change from the usual glass-topped version. It’s from Horchow and is a bit pricey (in my humble opinion) at $1,299. Horchow tends to be that way.
I love this mirrored cube table from West Elm. This is just the right touch of trend-not-overdone. It retails for a very reasonable $249.
This behemoth is also from Horchow. Please – don’t go there! At least not unless you live in a real palace with giant rooms. Okay?
One last thought – be careful about spending a lot on a trend, no matter what it may be. Save the large ka-ching for things that will stand the test of time. But, having said that, we’ve still got to have our fun. And this season, mirrors might be the ticket for your own fun house.
So, who likes the mirror trend? Will it stick around or go the way of the round-toed pump?

Good work! It wasn’t on sale this morning. Do you think the behemoth was mark-ed up so it could be marked down? “Wow, I got it on sale!” I think $800 is more in line with this thing. Can you imagine how much it must weigh? Ouch!

Not to disagree that Horchow isn’t expensive, it is, but the “behemoth” is on sale! As is a lot of other mirrored furniture… I love the mirrored buffet/console, marked down like $800.
