Wood Tile from Cancos
Here is a surprising new product from Cancos. It’s mosaic, tile made from wood. Wood in a bathroom? Well, the specifications say “yes” to that. This kind of natural, hand-rubbed wood is a real trend to watch.

doussi?©, rover?©, wenge, teak, ac?©ro,
I saw a lot of it, especially in bathroom sinks a couple of years ago at the Salone del Mobile in Milan. The wood choices are wenge, teak, doussi?©, rover?©, and ac?©ro. They come in 1-inch squares, or 1″ x 3″ rectangles.
Wouldn’t the wenge be beautiful in a bathroom?

I agree. The Zanger product would never wear well anywhere that gets a lot of traffic, and it would never work in a bathroom or other wet area. Cancos is a much better product. I like their wood varieties more, too.

what i wanted to do at mosaic house, where i worked as a designer for a while, was wooden moroccan mosaic tiles. but the nature of product and our work just wouldn’t allow it. all the materials were from morocco and the product made/cut by hand.
oh how lovely it would have been to have had some exotic pattern to them.
walker zanger came out with some bamboo wood-mosaics a while back too.
