Chair of the Day: Aeron Chair
I’ve been focusing on desk chairs lately – having forsaken them for a while. I suppose no desk chair collection would be complete without the Aeron Chair, from Herman Miller. It not longer has the same futuristic design appeal that it enjoyed when it was first introduced in 1995. That’s because its designers, Don Chadwick and Bill Stumpf created something that went on to inspire almost all desk chairs since.

Miller’s site has an interesting story about the design process. To quote part, “It wasn’t upholstered. It wasn’t padded. It was dimensioned in three models that looked exactly alike and that had nothing to do with their users’ job titles. It didn’t look like any other office chair. And its revolutionary concept incorporated more patentable ideas than any previous Herman Miller research program.” You can read the rest here.

My favorite version is the black and polished aluminum number.

I hate these chairs, only because they’re so ubiquitous.

This is my desk chair. I got the whole black version. I still enjoy it for the comfort it provides me.
