Chair of the Day: Moroso’s Pixel Sofa

Ron Arad’s new Pixel Sofa is composed of several soft, square-based shaped units of various heights. The units are arranged in rows to form the shape of the sofa, and fixed to a platform by steel pins.

Now that we have that straight, I have one question. How long would you want to sit in this? To be fair, keep in mind that this is designed primarily for the commercial marketplace and would most likely be used in hospitality areas where no one is expected to lounge for an evening of TV-watching. But come on - someone was having a laugh here.

As an expert on chair comfort, I can tell you that the unevenness of the pixels means shifting positions while your body tries to even itself out. I adore Moroso, but in my humble opinion Arad’s been reading his own press clippings a bit too much.
