Come Shop at the Holiday Mart
For those of you who live in Detroit, mark your calendars for next weekend starting the morning of Friday, October 17th. That’s the opening day for the 50th Annual Holiday Mart. I’m happy to be co-chairing the event this year. The event raises much-needed funds for Planned Parenthood’s educational programs directed toward teens in southeast Michigan.
More than 30 vendors will be on hand, selling a variety of unique products you won’t find just anywhere. Here’s a preview of what you’ll see.
The Great Lakes Tea & Spice Company is my favorite. I love everything they sell. My friend, Susan, and I bought one of everything last year. Or at least it seemed that way. They sell their own select teas and spice blends. They’ve also got great tea pots and accessories. Groovy.
Ellie Beans sells Penzo African pottery from Zimbabwe, Ngwenya recycled hand blown glass from Swaziland, reclaimed wooden accessories, and Leakey Collection Zulugrass Jewelry from Kenya. These one-of-a-kind pieces can really set a table. Too fab.
Hooray for City Bird! I’m so glad they’ll be at this year’s Mart. Maybe you’ve seen their home accessories and jewelry at their Etsy shop, or their own site. They make funky Detroit fashions. Totally cool.
The show runs from Friday through Sunday, at The War Memorial, which is located on Jefferson Ave., in Grosse Pointe Farms. Hours are 9:30 - 5:00 Friday and Saturday, and 12:00 - 5:00 on Sunday. The entrance fee is $5.00. I hope to see you there!

Oops! Thanks for letting me know. I added it to the post. The event is held at The War Memorial, on Jefferson Avenue in Grosse Pointe Farms.

I am going to this! I went last year and was surprised at how great the merch. was. Sorry, I hope you forgive me, but I’m a west-sider and I don’t associate style with Grosse Pointe. I should smack myself! Cuz I’m wrong.
