Design Inspiration: Camper Store in Paris

I know it’s late, I have a super-crazy week ahead of me. Anyway, I had to share some great design that I find really inspiring. Footwear manufacturer, Camper, knows how to hire their architect/designers who are truly innovative. Here is a series of photographs featuring shops in London, Paris and Madrid.
Take a look at the use of color. Also, check out how the designers used the visuals to create a unique environment that’s just fun to spend time in – even if you don’t need shoes (perish the thought!). Finally, I love how they used elements that don’t have anything to do with shoes and/or aren’t traditionally used for the lighting or wallpaper. You can learn a lot about donkeys, too. Enjoy.
Marti Guix?©‚Äôs conceptual stores, which were temporary and put together while the permanent shops were completed, were themed ‚Äúinfo-shops,‚Äù with encyclopedic information about contemporary design (Madrid, above) and Majorcan donkeys (London, below) treated as decoration.
They look like little museums. So visual and stylized. See? You don’t have to follow the rules to create a really great space – whether it’s a shop or your own home.
Jaime Hayon has designed five Camper Together stores. A shop on London’s Carnaby Street includes handmade wood tables with Hayon’s trademark multiple ornate legs, and hand crafted terra-cotta lamps designed just for the store.
Check out that chair. Wouldn’t you love to sit in it? I wish I had a photo of the chair alone.
Alfredo H?§berli‚Äôs Camper Together store in Paris offers a break from the bright colors featured in other locations. He felt a more subdued palette worked better on the high-end St. Honor?©. He’s right, and that’s another reason why designers are so important in all fields – we take lighting and location into account.
I love the lighting. Dressing up the lights to resemble pants and skirts and then installing them above the shoes is genius! Not only is it visually wonderful, it’s just a great idea. Hey! You could make these yourself – just make sure your pants don’t catch on fire.
