Flavor Paper

Yesterday I wrote about my two of my most important design principles: choose things in the correct proportion, and choose the paint color last. A third rule might be this: don’t buy anything that smells unless you can turn it off. Or blow it out.

I suppose Flavor Paper has reached this conclusion as well. They began life as the maker of scratch and sniff wallpaper (see above). Cute! For about a minute, until, like waffle-scented sneaker stores, the inescapable odor begins to grate on the nerves.

Flavor Paper has, very sensibly, moved beyond the one-off joke of scratch and sniff towards funky-yet-stylish wall coverings – a much better idea in my opinion. Flavor Paper now offers a variety of foils, florals and geometrics, which are reminiscent of the Flower Power era.

There are designs enough to please anyone who’s looking for something that, on the surface, appears standard, but upon closer inspection reveals more personality. How much personality is up to you.

Flavor Papers
are sold through the trade. That would be me, or your favorite designer. If you’re interested in samples or prices, shoot me an email. Retail prices are listed on their site, but designers set their own mark-ups.
