John Robshaw Textiles
My friend, Mansi, gave me a beautiful sari that her mother brought over from India. Thanks Mansi and Mom! I was going to use Mansi’s apartment for a Design Dilemma, but her Mom beat me to it. I’m hoping she’ll send me some “after” shots for the ‘ole blog.
The sari got me thinking about Indian textiles – a current favorite of mine. So I strolled over to John Robshaw Textiles and discovered that the company is now offering their products for sale online. Welcome to the new millenium!
I love his prints – all made in India. As John says, “Every textile represents a story, a drawing of an adventure in a far‚Äìoff place‚Äìfrom Yogakarta to Rajasthan, Bolivia to Vietnam. Arriving at textiles from painting and printmaking, I am interested in the mistakes, overlapping prints and the miss-registrations of woodblocks that record the human hand.” I think his method gives his patterns that unique, undecorated look I love.
You can buy sheets, duvets, quilts and curtains at their online shop. Fabrics, unfortunately, are available only through the trade. If you see a fabric you like online, shoot me an email and I’ll check on the price. Please include the quantity to you need.
Oh, and I recommend reading about John’s trip to Uzbekistan. Good inspiration.

Sigh, so beautiful. Wish I could buy that yellow quilt!

We are huge John Robshaw fans! Love the designs and colors of all his prints.
