Modular Shelving
I was really attracted to the wide variety of modular shelving I was seeing at the show. As a whole, the shelving reminds me of the modular units made popular in the 1970′s. If you’ve ever seen re-runs of the Bob Newhart Show, then perhaps you’ll remember that rosewood (or was it teak?) row of shelves hung on exposed clips. The models from the 70s¬† also had a slanted shelf to display your favorite coffee table book.
Well, at the Salone I saw reinterpretations on the look in many varieties. Some, like the series from Lualdi, are designed to serve a second purpose as a room divider. Lualdi’s look, whether as room dividers or along the wall, was the most reminiscent of the mid-century look I just mentioned.

Porro once again hits the mark with Modern Material House. A colorful, fully customizable wall unit.
I loved the variety of Olivieri’s customizable Cube units.
Another hit from Olivieri. Bold, black and white shelving.
This wall unit’s designer’s name eludes me at present. Will update as soon as I can.
