Outdoor Living

Here in Detroit we’re enjoying many inches of late-Winter snow. Ten more inches expected tomorrow. Which is why I’ve been living vicariously through this month’s issue of Coastal Living – especially the article entitled Permanent Vacation.

I am seriously in love with the outdoor room with this beautiful daybed. Living outdoors in the summer, with the soft breeze blowing and the sun shining is my idea of heaven.

I’ve taken this idea and used it as inspiration for my own outdoor living space. My version is surrounded with potted plants and flowers. The sun shines most days. And even when it’s raining, it’s still the perfect place for an afternoon nap.

It’s also the perfect place for entertaining. Lots of friends enjoying long, leisurely dinners are essential. Turn up the humidity please. There’s never enough in Michigan. Am I ready for summer? Yes please.

Let’s start with the furniture. The Belleville Sofa and Kitchener campaign table are from British Khaki, Robert Kuo coffee table from McGuire, and find the low bench and cushion at Urban Outfitters. The antique foot stool is at Out of the Woods. I found the Lansford dining table and Harvest chairs at Pottery Barn.

Now for the accessories. The French garden pots are from Detroit Garden Works. You can find the pillows at Crate and Barrel, and the antique Indian carpet is from First Dibs. Finally, the chandelier is from La Forge Francaise.
