Runners by Linda Belden

I don’t like wall-to-wall carpet in the hallway. It wears so unevenly and is hard to clean if there are difficult corners. Runners are much more appealing. Because you have warm wood underneath, the runner works as both toasty warmth for your feet, and as an extra layer in the hallway’s design.

I particularly like these runners from Linda Belden. Two of her lines evoke the aethetics of Japan and Sweden. The runners, above are from her Japanese line. But I guess you could figure that one out. The three, below, are from her Swedish line and have fun names like Larsson.

Linda Belden worked as an artist in the gift industry for years. A trip to Oaxaca, Mexico and a meeting with the Zapotec weavers there, inspired her to begin designing textiles. Her rugs are handmade in Mexico by the weavers who started it all.

If you’re ever looking to have a custom runner made, I have a friend who is an excellent weaver in the UK who takes custom orders.
