I imagine that most working women don't want to iron them and don't want to have to wash the whole thing for possibly a tiny spill. It's easier to wash one placemat than a table size cloth. I do love to iron linens ( I know I'm strange that way) but I too, resort to placemats for daily use. I buy tons of them in twos for hubby and me and we have lots of cute tablescapes to look at with our white dishes by Ralph Lauren. I agree that people don’t use cloths much anymore. I imagine
