DH Giveaway: Enter To Win “The Vintage Table”

I think The Vintage Table is a book a lot of you will be interested in adding to your library. Or, perhaps you know someone else who would. Now you have a change to be one of the first to own a copy – before its official release on December 29th.

The-Vintage-Table

The publisher of¬† The Vintage Table, by Jacqueline DeMontravel, sent me an advance copy to review. It’s very difficult to give this book away. It’s right up my alley. French, vintage and tabletop. If you also collect vintage textiles, you will adore this book. I also love the fact that it covers more than just¬† place settings. You’ll find inspirational ideas for dressing up all kinds of things from end tables to shelves. There are lots of beautiful photos along the way.

Jacqueline discusses collections as well. It’s all decidedly French, so you know I love that. My apartment in Paris is waiting for me. I’ll be there one of these days!

The Vintage Table 3How To Enter

To win this book, simply leave a comment under any of this week’s giveaway posts. I’d like to see if I can get a discussion going about how you like to “decorate” your tables. Do you place photos on the mantle, or do you think that’s boring? Do you have a style secret you’d like to offer us? Decorating tabletops is my weak point, so I need your tips! If you’re feeling shy, just say hello and you’re still entered to win.

The winner will be drawn, at random, on Saturday, December 12th. The contest is open to everyone living in the US and Canada. If you’ve won a giveaway in the last¬† months, please let everyone else have a chance.

Good luck and let’s have some fun!

I like to decorate with unique and different items I usually find at rummage sales and I also like to change it up every so often…

I like to change things out as well. And now that I look around with fresh eyes, I see that I need to update my photos!

One of my “things” is to put collections in a tray on a dresser or other table. Great trays are harder to find than you might think.

Looks like a wonderful book. I like just about anything vintage including linens, aprons and tableware. I have a growing collection of vintage Pyrexes.

I like placing photos off side to make a more visually interesting display. Depending on the photo subjects I add flowers and candles to the display to complement the photos. I like picking up funky glass vases/bowls/cups & putting rocks at the bottom with assorted leaves& branches/sprays from trees in my yard. I’ve also printed out photos on paper & decoupaged them to containers & then display them in a pyramid style.

honestly, I am terrible at decorating anything and my table is the last thing I think about when getting ready for company. I’d love to win this book so get some ideas. Thank you!

Wow! What fantastic tips! I love the use of natural things mixed with photos. Don’t you think the key is a mix of heights combined with an odd number of things? 3 or 5 of something works better than 2 or 4.

I’m not a good flower arranger either. The only fool proof thing I know is to use lots of stems – a double bunch from the grocery store – and plop them in a square vase. Cut the stems longer than you think is right. Then, trim them a little, checking them after each trim, until you think they look just right. I’m always cutting them too short. A good flower is Alstromeria (I don’t know how to spell that!). They last a long time and fill a vase nicely.

I love to decorate with my unique antiques pieces ! I love to set a differents vintage plate for everybody and I do the same for glasswares

I am completely hopeless in flower arranging as well. Recently, I have just been using a lot of the same flower. A few months ago, I made an arrangement with only dahlias. They were all white but different sizes. Got a lot of compliments.

Love this book, I’m adding it to my wish list – I love anything vintage – especially anything French or English – but definitely don’t have a clue abut arranging, and have to see something first to give me ideas, right now I’m into pheasant feathers and birds on my mantel for Christmas and I prefer my flowers in opaque containers not glass – looking at all those stems in the water takes away from the blooms!

Looks like a great book.

I love using doilies on my tables. I have some beautiful ones my mother made before she passed and I’ll pass them to my son to keep them in the family.
