DIY Hand Knit Slipcover

I’m working on a bedroom and was looking around for slipcover ideas when I came across this one over at Apartment Therapy. I thought this might be a fun project for anyone who loves to knit. Am I nuts? This project can be found in the book, Simple Knits with a Twist, by Erika Knight.

Do you think it would be too stretchy? Or slippery? Thoughts from knitters, please!

I’ve had great difficulty finding a slipcover for a chair I which is the same shape and size of the knitted slipcovered chair shown above….

(1) what is the name of the this type of chair
(2) any suggestions on a store/website etc. that carries slipcovers for these types of chairs

ALL SUGGESTIONS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!
Best :)

Stacy,

You will have to have a slipcover made for your chair. To find someone in your area, go to a local fabric shop and ask if they keep a list of workrooms or seamstresses. Or, you can go to Calico Corners. They make curtains and, I believe, slipcovers. Also, try Angie’s list. This is like Craig’s list, but for services. You can post a request or find someone who list their sewing service. Try an upholsterer, too. The cost for labor should be around $300 plus fabric. You can find some good, inexpensive fabrics at JoAnn Fabrics – especially when they have a 40% off sale.

I hope this helps. Why not send me “before and after” photos and I’ll post them?
