Layered lighting
Lighting is often an orphaned child in interior design. I find that many designers and do-it-yourselfers think of lighting design last, when often it should be at least one of the first. Lighting can completely alter the look of a room. They can create another layer to your design – the layer that creates an atmosphere.
Pendant lights are one way to add atmosphere. The two, below, cast light in a pattern that really fills the bill.

We often think of pendants for use over tables. But they can be hung anywhere – especially if they’re sculptural, like these options.
