Whiteboard paint

Blackboard paint has been around for awhile. But now there’s…..

Whiteboard paint!

Lots of companies are making it – including Idea Paint and RustOleum.

Use it in a laundry room to note your stain-removal cocktails. Kid’s room? My favorite idea is to use it on furniture and accessories. Create personalized gifts – a flower vase with a message all your own.

What’s in your idea wallet?

!!

I’ve never been fond of the chalkboard idea because of the chalk dust… and I was JUST wondering the other day if they made something like this!

This is a really wonderful concept. Thank you for posting it.

I guess it was just a matter of time! Nice alternative to the chalkboard paint.

The problem is that Ideapaint is 4$/sq ft. 50sqft *4 = 200 a batch. why is it so expensive? The rustoleum version of it is several times cheaper. Does anyone know if it works as well?

I’ve heard that the Rustoleum doesn’t work at all. You can’t really erase it. But i haven’t tried it myself. If you’re interested in covering a large space, you might consider using a wallpaper white board product called Memerase. I’ve used that and it’s terrific – comes in a bunch of colors, too.

I just recently tried the Rustoleum white board paint – $30 to cover a 7 x 7 area (mine was 5 x 5 though). It did NOT work. Sorry to say. It does not erase fully. Now I have a bunch of green smudges on the white wall. Ho-hum.

Also, it took a lot of time to paint, dry between coats, wait two days for it to cure. After all of that….disappointment.

BUT on the package it says “call customer service for a full refund if not satisfied”. So I did, …we’ll see if I really do get that refund…

I heard that shower board from the hardware store works just like whiteboard but much cheaper.

Has anyone tried that?

It’s a little late, but I just tried the shower board. It comes in 4×8 at Home Depot and it was $10.98 for the thing here. That’s the only size. It says to leave it in the room (my bedroom, in this case) for a day before actually using it. Well, my room smells really bad. It makes my eyes burn. It smells like a normal whiteboard, but much stronger! It’s unbearable. There is is thing called IdeaPaint which I’ve heard is good, but it’s expensive. It’s $60 for 20 sq. ft.

Then there’s Memerase, which is white board wall paper.
