Mother’s Day Gifts

not your average flowers

Everyone loves getting flowers, but this Mother’s Day (May 9th), why not give a gift that last more than a few days? She’ll be reminded of your thoughtfulness all year round. If you choose something with a floral theme in mind your mum will have the best of both worlds. Here are a variety of suggestions.First, I’ve become a real fan of diffusers. My favorites come from Infusion Organique.  Their diffusers are beautiful and the scents are delicious. They come in two sizes, starting at $56, and a variety of scents. If your mom likes tea, try a floral tea from Great Lakes Tea & Spice Company.  Their teas come in a beautiful box and cost a mere $3.50. A set of 3 is $10.00. And, they gift box. If your mom is a crafty sort, I like this daffodil paper craft of kit ($14.95) from Paper Source. Add a ceramic vase for a complete look ($18.95).

Another real favorite of mine are the products from Olive & Cocoa. They sell the most beautiful dried and fresh floral arrangements, little trees that I love, and this lovely Manzanita tea light arrangement ($98).

Home good site, Wisteria offers up this set of 3 birds nests made from dried grass and faux eggs ($14.40). I use a lot of note cards. They’re great for saying “thank you” (never forget to do that), tuck into a gift, and write an old-fashioned letter. Remember those? I like these French-influenced note cards from Quel Objet ($32.50). Finally, for my friends across the pond, I adore these mugs from Liberty of London (@ $30). They feature several of Liberty’s classic floral prints.

What are you giving your mom for mother’s day?

You always have the best recommendations. I bookmarked Olive & Cocoa and Infusion Organique for future reference. :)

We are thinking of sending lilacs to my MIL. Her all-time favorite flower. However, I couldn’t find any florist online who’d deliver a bouquet of lilacs, so I will order the stems from a nursery.

Adore the Liberty mugs. They’ll be perfect for serving Mom her tea. I don’t think she’ll mind the wait.

Jennifer, your ideas for gifts are always splendid. Flowers cost a fortune on Mother’s Day. I’d rather give a gift that lasts longer than a week.
