What Would You Do With This Window?
I received a note from Elisa asking for guidance on a treatment for this window. Privacy isn’t an issue, but the sunlight in the morning is driving her husband crazy! As I am a person who likes to sleep in now and then, I feel his pain. There is a product from Linda’s Curtain Studio that might just fix the problem. It’s a series of clear, flexible rods and clip together and can be mounted to the wall. The only problem is that the curtain itself can’t be opened during the day. Normally, I would recommend a sheer curtain fabric that would filter the light. But I’d hate to lose that beautiful view. And a sheer may not filter the light enough for someone who really wants a good night’s sleep.
I thought this might be a good project for all of you who love a good design dilemma to think about. Hanging plants? Custom shades? Wearing a sleep mask? I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas. Fire away.

I so wish to see the results!
(can’t help them, though, cause i have no issue whatsoever with sunlight…. anytime of day or night!)

Agree with both the comments above… it’d be criminal to block that view and that glorious light!

Couple of fun options: Sheer window clings that cover the entire window, but still is not obstructing any view. Can do a color or pattern that reflects the room’s decor.
Also, what about using some sort of sculpture or items and creating a feature wall with the window space. More height will block a little sun without detaining light.

I WOULD USE TALL OR BUSHY PLANTS IF THE VIEW IS NOT SO IMPORTANT TO THE PEOPLE, OR A GENEROUS SIZED CANVAS AS A TEXTILE ROOF, WHICH WOULD BE FLEXIBLE ENOUGH ACCORDING TO THE SEASONS.
IKEA ONCE SOLD A QUITE HUGE ONE, WHICH SHOULD DO THE JOB. 35 BUCKS IT WAS.
AND ON TOP OF THE FUNCTION, IT GIVES ONE THE FEELING OF BEING ON VACATION EACH DAY.
WE HAVE IT IN OUR GARDEN.
JUST WONDERFUL!HAVE A RELAXED DAY!

Well, how about a water proof curtain or shades on the outside? And a few vases by the window inside?

Curtains + A shelf underneath to maybe some books vases or other knick-knacks!
The view doesn’t matter at night, just close the curtains and then in the morning it won’t be in his eyes. It’s not hard to open or close some curtains…if you’re sleeping you’re not looking out a window. And if you’re waiting for him to wake up, I’m sure you wouldn’t just lay there either.

Here’s my solution: Let me put up with the sunlight. I love that view! :^)
