New Shop On Etsy: SockTales Makes Headlines
I’m a little off topic today, but I had to share these awesome, handmade headbands now available at Etsy’s SockTales shop (love that name).
My niece has fashioned these one size fits all must have fashion headbands using a variety of colorful new socks. Each headband is finished with a special button or bow. To check out what’s she has in stock, go SockTales and check them out.
Each headband sells for $12.00. Awesome price! I love a one of a kind accessory. As I always say in the interior design biz, accessories are the jewelry that make a room look finished. The same is obviously true for fashion. It’s the shoes and the headband that make an outfit look pulled together.
Take a look at SockTales. These are original and fun.
DIY Project: Create Your Own Paint-by-Number With Paintapic
Do you remember those paint-by-numbers we painted at camp or on rainy summer days? I remember the choices were pretty much limited to autumn scenes and wolves. Snore. But don’t fret. Paintapic has transformed the paint-by-number world just in time for summer. Keith Gould, a technical director for a design industry web site created this easy to use personalized process. Read More…
Totally Ugly Furniture From the Salone del Mobile
Okay! So, one might think that everything in the Contemporary Halls would be (a) contemporary and (b) well designed and (c) useful in some sort of way. You would be wrong. Here, I offer proof that, just because a company can afford the price of space at the Salone (super-duper furniture and design show held once a year in Milan), your offerings are just as super-duper. This lamp just makes me laugh. All the lamps this company makes were just as hideous. If this were in my house, I wouldn’t get much sleep for fear that those claws and the base might creep into my bedroom and I’d find that shade sucking my blood at two o’clock in the morning. Those beads are red, after all. Yikes. Read More…
Tuesday Review: Pittsburgh Paint’s “The Voice Of Color”
Without a doubt, the number one thing I’m asked to help clients with is color. Everyone knows they like pink or blue or green. But when they look at the thousands of variations of green in any fan deck they get the vapors. Pittsburgh Paints has put together a website, The Voice of Color, and sets of organized color palettes that make choosing colors for your home a pleasure.
They’ve put together one of the best color quizzes I’ve seen in a while. The Color Sense Game asks questions that are easy to answer and, best of all, cover all of aspects of one’s life. For example, what music do you like? Instead of asking you to choose jazz, rock, etc…, they’ve put together actual samples to listen to. Easy, right? It is. The quiz covers all the senses – taste, scent, touch, etc… Read More…
