Oops Design Offers the Best of the Worst

You must check this out. This year’s nominees for the worst product designs of 2009. Here are a few of my favorites.

This one just makes me laugh out loud – like Dr. Ohara from Nurse Jackie. I’m holding my sides in. I think it’s the donkey’s pose that really gets me. I couldn’t have this in my living room without feeling guilty. Which means I’d have to fill the cabinet with liquor just to feel better. Then I’d probably drink too much.  That would lead to disco dancing. And everyone knows that leads straight to hell. I. Bride’s design, entitled Martin the Mule, took first prize in the Silliest Product Design category.

Another laugh attack. This reminds me of something a design team recently came up with for me. A whole lot of….. what???? This took second prize in the same category.

No need to clean out the fridge! It couldn’t look any worse than what’s growing here. The Oswine Lamp was designed by Johaanness Hemann. I do not understand why it didn’t win an award. I was one of the voters. Check out the rest of the worthy nominees here.

Chair of the Day: Oops Nominee Cipria Sofa

This year’s nominees for the 2009 Oops awards for bad design have been announced. Among them is Fernando and Humberto Campana’s Cipria Sofa designed for Edra.

It looks like something I might find in the back my refrigerator. But, I must admit that it looks a little fluffier in this photo from Edra’s site. Sadly, not fluffy enough.
