Tuesday Review & Giveaway: Baroness von Neumann Candles, Dahlink

Let me begin this review by saying that the candle I was asked to sample from Baroness von Neumann is attractive. So is the box it came in. As such, it might make a delightful gift. The scent, Fete is a little overpowering. I prefer a more subtle scent. But that’s a personal thing, right?

I must admit, the Baroness’ “resumé” smells a little well, eau de poisson-y to moi.

I’m sure they’re accurate, but her press materials stress a ready-for-reality-show kind of vibe. Born in Detroit (how gauche!), raised in “Hollywood”, sent to Swiss finishing school following her marriage to the Baron John Von Neumann. He “discovered” her at a party when she was only 18.  (Perhaps Fete is a Baronessian homage to that fateful evening). Design Hole Giveaway: Infusion Organique Scent Diffuser

I’ve spent a couple of weeks test driving a scent diffuser from Infusion Organique. I’m keeping it! So they generously gave me an extra to give away this week. Before I get to the giveaway info, here’s my take on scented homes.

Truthfully, I wasn’t an enthusiast of scented rooms until a couple of years ago. Up until then all I knew about this sort of thing were products designed to cover up some bad smell in someone’s home. Jonathan Adler Diffusers

I’d really like to know your opinion on diffusers. Do you like them? I’m on the fence. I used to think they were totally ick. I guess because I don’t want to foist my idea of a nice scent onto everyone in my home. But I’m beginning to think they’re not so bad.

I use scented candles because I can turn them off. As long as they’re in a small space like a powder room, the scent is enclosed. And diffusers are looking rather smart these days. I like this style from Jonathan Adler. ($68.00).
